East Liverpool, OH, November 18, 2022 – East Liverpool City Hospital, a member of Prime Healthcare Foundation, received an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from the Leapfrog Group. This national distinction celebrates East Liverpool City Hospital’s achievements in protecting hospital patients from preventable harm and errors.

The Leapfrog Safety Grade is the golden standard measure of patient safety, and is awarded twice a year. Not only is this East Liverpool City Hospital’s 10th award in 5 consecutive years, ELCH is the only hospital in the region to receive the Grade A award.

“I applaud the hospital leadership and workforce for their strong commitment to safety and transparency,” said Leah Binder, President and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “An ‘A’ Safety Grade is a sign that hospitals are continuously evaluating their performance so that they can best protect patients. Your hospital team should be extremely proud of their dedication and achievement.”

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization with a 10-year history of assigning letter grades to general hospitals throughout the United States, based on a hospital’s ability to prevent medical errors and harm to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Hospital Safety Grade results are based on more than 30 national performance measures and are updated each fall and spring.

East Liverpool City Hospital was recognized by Fortune/Merative 100 Top Hospitals for the 5th consecutive year in 2022. This top performance award recognizes them as one of the highest performing hospitals in the United States.

“Despite the extraordinary circumstances over the last 2 ½ years, East Liverpool City Hospital and our team has remained committed to our top priority which is to keep our patients safe and deliver quality care,” said Krista McFadden, CEO of East Liverpool City Hospital. “This is truly a team effort, and the credit goes to our employees, medical staff, and leaders who are dedicated to delivering the highest quality care in the safest environment for our patients. Thank you to them for all they do.”
